Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said reports suggesting that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh's visit to the state has been cancelled is incorrect.
Abdullah said that his government is in discussion with the Prime Minister's Office regarding the modalities of Dr. Singh's visit.
"This information that was spread that the Prime Minister's visit has been cancelled is incorrect, at no time had the Prime Minister's visit been cancelled. The Prime Minister's visit stands as of now," he added.
Abdullah further said UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi might also visit the state.
"And if my information is correct we are also in discussions with Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, the UPA chairperson, and possibly Mrs. Gandhi will also be visiting the state. We are working out the details of his visit, what will be involved and what are the issues those are under discussions," he added.
It was earlier reported that the Prime Minister has postponed his visit to Jammu and Kashmir. According to certain media reports, Dr. Singh is scheduled to arrive in Srinagar for a two-day visit on June 25.
Separatist leaders in Jammu and Kashmir are against the Prime Minister's visit, and have also proposed to call for a complete shutdown.
