Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has held a meeting with top officials of the government and armed forces and revised the agenda for his upcoming visit to Washington.

The meeting was held in the backdrop of US President Barack Obama announcing the American troops stay in Afghanistan till 2017.

According to the Express Tribune, the meeting was attended by senior officials, including Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and National Security Adviser to Prime Minister Sharif Sartaj Aziz to discuss the implication of President Obama's announcement, while it was noted that Pakistan's role in Afghanistan issues had "appreciably diminished" after the announcement.

Sharif will be reaching Washington on October 20, and is expected to meet President Obama on October 22.
