Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday will inaugurate new terminal of the Airports Authority of India-run Tirupati airport that would further boost connectivity to the famous temple town in southern Andhra Pradesh.
Around Rs. 190 crore has been spent by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to build the new Garuda-shaped terminal which can handle code 'D' and code 'C' types of aircraft with link taxi, apron and associated infrastructure.
Besides, the Prime Minister is also scheduled to lay foundation stone for Venkateswara Mobile & Electronics Manufacturing Hub at the temple town, which is projected to generate 10,000 jobs within a year.
Later, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to offer prayers at the famous hill shrine of Tirumala. This will be his maiden visit to the temple after becoming the Prime Minister.
Security has been beefed up in the temple town in view of the Prime Minister's visit. More than 4,000 personnel have been deployed.
