Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former federal minister Sheikh Aftab escaped an assassination attempt on him on Monday.
Aftab was travelling back home after campaigning for the upcoming general elections in Kamra town in Attock district of Pakistan's Punjab province when unknown assailants opened fire on his vehicle, reported Geo TV.
The security of PML-N leader, who had served as Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, was withdrawn a week ago, Geo TV said.
However, a section of media reports states that his security was withdrawn a month ago.
No casualties or loss of property was reported.
This comes barely days after a series of terror attacks targeted the political parties and their supporters in Pakistan, ahead of the July 25 general elections in the country.
In last one week, four attacks have targeted election candidates, resulting in at least 157 deaths and injuries to over 200 people in Pakistan, as per media reports.
