The Poetry Society (India) and the India International Centre organized a poetry session on Friday on the theme of "Images of Life in Changing Times
The 'Seventh Quarry' is a poetry magazine published in Swansea and Wales.
The session was attended by seventeen distinguished poets from across India and the idea was to underline the importance of poetry in contemporary times.
Multi-lingual forms of poetry was on show as poets recited their poems in English, Urdu and Odiya in a wonderful manner.
Sukrita Paul Kumar, a poet, said, "This is the session which has brought almost 99 percent of the poets who have been included in the seventh Quarry which is a journal which actually comes from Wales but Mandira Ghosh has put together these poets in this particular India special issue. So it is always nice to have live poetry and share each others' ideas thoughts etc. but in a very integrated way the expressions which poetry always connects, poetry connects from poet with one another, with one individual with other and one culture with another."
Mandira Ghosh, Guest Editor of 'The Seventh Quarry', said, "This time this is a special issue on the poets of India in which International known poets like K.K.Daruwala, Dr. S.K. Kaul and others and also some .... Renowned poets of whose poetry I like very much are included in this issue."

Kathmandu-based Indian diplomat-poet Abhay K. also read some of his poems at the event.
He will be launching his new poetry book 'Seduction of Delhi' at the Literature festival in Jaipur. Abhay feels that young Indian poets are now well connected with their readers through social media.
"I think poetry connects you know different ages there are poets like K.K. Daruwala who are in their seventies and there are poets like me obviously there is always a connection there and poetry I have seen there are lots of young poets writing poetry these days and they are very active on the social media. They are writing poetry on blogs and publishing on internet. I think there is very vibrant of atmosphere in Delhi these days," Abhay K. said.
Indian poetry and literature in general, has a long history dating back to Vedic times.
