Refuting charges that he had raised 'anti-national' slogans, JNU Students' Union (JNUSU) general secretary Rama Naga, who is one of the five students booked by the police, said on Monday that they would abide the Vice Chancellor's decision and not resist arrest.

"If the police is called inside the campus by the Vice Chancellor, then yes, they can arrest us. We will not put up any resistance. We have not met him (VC) yet, but will agree with whatever decision he makes," Naga said.

Talking about the incident on February 9 at JNU, he said that it was students from 'outside' who had entered the campus and chanted the alleged 'anti-national' slogans.

"There were some students, who were not from JNU who were making those statements and when we saw them chanting, we asked them to stop. Before we begun our march, I warned the organisers of the event that there are two groups present here," Naga said.

When asked that why the group of booked students went into hiding, he asserted that the atmosphere was unstable at the time and added that attempts were being made to target some students and associate them with terrorism.

"In such a situation, we felt that we needed to be safe. We were near JNU itself and we decided that once normalcy returns, we will come back to the campus. We have submitted a letter to the Committee telling them we should be kept in the loop while making a decision," Naga said.

Earlier, five JNU students, including Umar Khalid, who were being looked for by the police for making 'anti-national' statements at the campus surfaced at the varsity today.

The five students Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya, Rama Naga, Ashutosh Kumar and Anant Prakash had gone missing from the campus since February 12 after JNU Student's Union president Kanhaiya Kumar was arrested in a sedition case.

The police teams have been positioned outside the JNU and have been asked to wait for the students to surrender themselves.

Meanwhile, JNU vice-chancellor Jagdesh Kumar said the entry for police as well as the media has been barred for now.
