The police chief who was central to the inquiry into Princess Diana's death has been suspended after women officers complained of "inappropriate behaviour".
Avon and Somerset Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens said that the case has been referred to the IPCC after numerous serious allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards female officers and staff by Nick Gargan had emerged, the Daily Express reported.
The Chief Constable, who had been tipped to be the next Met Commissioner in London, is currently being investigated by the Independent Police Complaints Commission, but he has denied all the allegations.
Gargan was a police liaison officer at the British embassy in Paris in 1997 when Diana and Dodi Fayed died in a car crash and he was a key witness at their inquest in 2007.
