In the backdrop of recent blast, Police on Saturday detained a vehicle carrying explosives in Purulia district of West Bengal.
Police recovered 1100 detonators, 2800 gelatine sticks from a Tata Sumo which was going towards Barabazar area from Boro area.
Two men, identified as S.K. Sahabul and Rakesh Mudi have been arrested in this case. Reportedly, these men were going to deliver the explosives found in the car to a third person, Chandan Singh of Barabazar area.
Purulia police is interrogating to find out if these huge quantities of explosives were being carried to any Maoist or terrorist groups. .
This incident comes close on the heels of an explosion in Burdwan district of West Bengal that left two suspected militants dead.
It is suspected that the victims of the explosion were associated with a militant outfit as a large number of watch dials, SIM cards, and other tools required to make improvised explosive devices were found in the house, police had said on Saturday (October 04).
On Sunday (October 05), two women were also arrested and remanded to police custody for two weeks in connection with the blast which left two suspected militants dead.
