The New Jersey police is reportedly on the lookout for the gunman who opened fire inside the Garden State Plaza Mall in Paramus on Monday night.

A law enforcement source said that no one was shot and police believe that the gunman, dressed in black body armour and wearing a helmet, was targeting one person who was not at the mall.

Bergen County Administrator Edward Trawinski said that there have been no injuries, but that could change as thousands of people were still on lockdown inside the mall, Fox News reports.

The source at the scene said that a discarded leather jacket and backpack were found on the second floor of the Lord and Taylor store and K-9 units were sent in case he was hiding there.

It was further revealed that a bomb squad was sent in to check the backpack, which was still nopened and the police were trying to trace the gunman's cell phone with the help of ping info being fed from Verizon.

One witness said that the gunman was 'strutting by' and talking to himself as he fired at least five shots, including some on security cameras, the report added.
