Police on Tuesday recovered explosives and other items used for making bombs in Lohardaga district of Jharkhand.

The items in huge amount were seized from a man who supplied them to Maoists.

The police, acting on a tip-off, sent a team to Bandi village for search operation from where they arrested the man identified as Karamdayal Munda.

"We have seized 37 different types of canes from his possession. Other than that, 175 detonators, 110 feet long codex wires, pressure cookers, which are used to make pressure cooker bombs, were also found and have been seized," said Superintendent of Police, Manoj Ratan.

Ratan added Munda also supplied food to the Maoists. The police are interrogating him to find out the places where he used to deliver these explosives.

Meanwhile, in Palamu district of the state, armed Maoists attacked a construction site on National Highway 75. They beat up the workers and halted their work.

The construction site manager informed the police about the incident and demanded some measures for their security as such incidents are frequent due to extortion of money.

"The incident of the attack was informed by the manager in-charge of the construction site at Amarnath Bridge. The police are investigating the matter and have increased the presence of officials," said Superintendent of Police, Mayur Patel.
