Political parties across the country on Tuesday were united in condemning Pakistan after the Nawaz Sharif government lodged a protest with the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) over the alleged ceasefire violations by Indian forces along the Line of Control (LoC).
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Samba Patra said that Pakistan has realized the power of the Indian army and the Border Security Force (BSF) and hence they have taken this step.
"Pakistan National Security Advisor Sartaj Aziz is frustrated. If your country will continue to violate ceasefires, you will get a reply. It has been conveyed to Islamabad that with the change in government, the times have changed in India. Pakistan has realized the power of the Indian army and the BSF," said Patra.
"If they violate ceasefires, a befitting reply will be given. Otherwise India never violates ceasefire as we want peace," he added.
Meanwhile, Panthers Party leader Bhim Singh said that he was surprised that Pakistan used the term "working border" instead of calling it an international border and added that the Indian Government should take that into notice.
"This is nothing new for India. They have been playing this hide and seek game for the past 60 years. I am not surprised that they have threatened to protest at the UN but I am surprised at the term "working border" used for the international border by Pakistan," said Singh.
"Prime Minister Modi failed to raise one single point at UN about how Pakistan has been violating ceasefires. India should stage a strong protest against it. They are targeting civilians deliberately and there is need for some other concrete action and not just protests," he added.
