Indian politicians on Tuesday hailed Communist Party of India (CPI) leader A.B. Bardhan's remark on Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

On Monday, Bardhan had said that if required his party can form an alliance with Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee to stop Modi from coming to power.

Nationalist Congress Party, (NCP) leader Tariq Anwar supported Bardhan's view and said if communal and disastrous power will take over the country, it will be hard to predict nation's future.

"What Mr. Bardhan has said is absolutely perfect because one should see the largest interest of the country. If communal and disastrous power will take over the country then it will be hard to predict the future of the country. If the CPI has come forward, it is a good thing. All secular parties of the country should think over the issue," said Anwar.

Janata Dal (Secular) leader Danish Ali said Mamata Banerjee and her Trinamool Congress (TMC) party is one of the factors that will be considered if it comes to forming a secular front to oppose Modi or the Congress party.

"When we talk about non-Congress and non-BJP coalition, we consider all the parties that are unlikely to go with BJP post polls and no doubt Mamata Banerjee is one of the factors among many," said Ali.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Siddhartha Nath Singh said Bardhan's remark shows that they are shaken by Modi's popularity.

"The reason they want to converge that two different poles of the ideologies together shows that they have got the ground reality in West Bengal that is the BJP surge and the popularity of Narendra Modi in West Bengal is at the highest level and therefore they want to come together to stop Modi that shows they are shaken, they are shattered," said Singh.
