Politicos congratulate Dhoni's boys for splendid show in World Cup

Politicians on Thursday united to congratulate the Indian cricket team for a stellar performance during the World Cup, after the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led squad bowed out of the tournament, losing the semi-final to Australia.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs and Sports and BJP leader Sarbananda Sonowal said that the team had played really well.

"Team India had worked real hard. They played quality game today," Sonowal told ANI.

Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah tweeted that the team had performed well to reach the knock out stages of the tournament.

"With the warm up India had I didn't expect them to reach the knock out stage so well played Team India, take a bow guys. Chin up," he posted.

Meanwhile, the official twitter account for the Congress party posted that the entire nation stands behind Dhoni's squad.

"Well played India. We might not have won today's match but the nation stands solidly behind @msdhoni and the Indian cricket team. #IndvsAus," it posted.

Australia beat India by 95 runs in the semi-final of the 2015 World Cup at the Sydney Cricket Ground, with Steven Smith scoring 105 for the home side.

Australia will face New Zealand in the final on Sunday in Melbourne.
