The Crime Branch-CID of the Tamil Nadu police, probing the Pollachi sexual assault case, has summoned Congress leader Mayura Jayakumar, asking him to appear before March 25.
"Yesterday, I received a summon from the CB-CID to be present before March 25. I was told that during the incident, Tirunavukkarasu (an accused in the case) had said he was not in Pollachi and had come to Coimbatore with his father and greeted me at the Congress district office," Jayakumar told ANI.
"The CB-CID wanted to know if the criminal was at the Congress district office on the particular date. They didn't ask any questions beyond this. I have given my statement in writing. I am ready to furnish any information whenever the authorities call me," he said.
Jayakumar said that he did not have any links with the accused persons.
"I am not connected to this incident. I have mentioned very clearly (to the police) that I have no links with the accused persons. My stand is clear," he said.
