West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard has said that he would rather sacrifice himself sometimes for the sake of the team in the quest for a win, instead of trying to improve his own average.

The hard-hitting all-rounder, who debuted for the West Indies in April 2007, made his name in the Twenty20 format, both international and in domestic leagues, although he will miss the World T20 this year due to an injury.

According to www.PakPassion.net, although Pollard is aware of the consensus that his batting average of 25 in ODIs does not do justice to his talent, he however, said that even if he can bolster his average up to 30 in ODIs with some not outs, it would not achieve anything if the team does not win.

Stating that he believes in sacrificing himself for the sake of the team in the quest for a win, Pollard also said that there have been numerous occasions where he could have walked off the ground with a not out under his belt and improved his average, but this is not his philosophy of playing cricket.
