Polling begins for fourth phase of Assembly elections in J-K, Jharkhand

Polling has begun on Sunday for the fourth phase of Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand amidst tight security.

In Jammu and Kashmir, voting started at 8 a.m. and will end at 4 p.m. The fourth phase will be the last one for Kashmir, where voting is taking place for 16 Assembly segments spread over three districts of Srinagar, Anantnag and Shopian. Voting is also underway for two seats in Samba district of Jammu region.

"Winters are there but still people are casting their votes because they want change. People are getting aware and they know that they have to choose the right person," said Vaishali Sharma, a voter from Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district.

"This time youth is very excited for voting. They are coming in large numbers to vote. They are more knowledgeable than the elders and the youth is more enthusiastic this time. Moreover, we want development to take place," said Bhavika, another voter from Jammu and Kashmir.

In Jharkhand, polling is underway for 15 assembly segments spread over four districts of Bokaro, Dhanbad, Giridih and Deoghar.

"We have given priority to the polling this time. In comparison to every year, this time the number of voters have increased, said a voter from Jharkhand's Deoghar.

"We have cast our votes thinking that development will take place," said another voter from Deoghar.

Polling, which started at 7 a.m., will end at 3 p.m., except in two constituencies of Dhanbad and Bokaro, where it will conclude at 5 p.m.
