Seems like the first look poster of 'Mohenjo Daro's female lead Pooja Hegde has not been taken well by everyone.
Though the poster received huge appreciation from Bollywood lovers, Ruchika Sharma, an M.Phil student at JNU with a specialisation in Medieval Indian history, lashed out at the makers of the movie saying that they portrayed a Harappan woman incorrectly.
The poster showed Pooja sporting a blue outfit with feathers on her head.
Ruchika wrote on her social neworking handle, ""Boss, what sick orientalism is this? Who told them that Harappans had these feathers in their hair? I'm really done with Bollywood depicting tribal, clannish societies in such stereotypical terms, feathers in their hair, paint on their faces. I mean, there are literally hundreds of terracotta figurines depicting Harappan women. Take a cue? Also, in all probability the Harappans were dark complexioned. Yeh kya fair and lovely bias hai?Everyone knows the the (migrating) Aryans had a fair complexion. Not the Harappans. But fair is all that works for BTown.Thoroughly disgusted."
The Ashutosh Gowariker directed movie, that stars Hrithik Roshan in the lead, is slated to release on August 12 this year.
