When her relationship with Gavin Rossdale went down the hill, it had taken a severe toll on Gwen Stefani as well.
The 46-year-old songstress divorced her husband of thirteen years last year citing irreconcilable differences after it was rumoured that Rossdale had an affair, reports News.com.au.
During a recent interview with USA today, the 'Rich Girl' hit-maker opened up about her anguish following the split and revealed that she was literally dead and was panicking like anyone would be.
Stefani also revealed that the only way she got through the pain was to distract herself by concentrating on her work and by accepting the situation was out of her control.
During this time she became a coach at the US edition of 'The Voice' and she believes that doing this made her feel renewed.
Mentoring new talent on 'The Voice' also gave Stefani the motivation she needed to write new music as well as introducing her to her new boyfriend, fellow judge Blake Shelton, whom she hooked up with last November.
