Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Prakash Javadekar, launched a new system for online submission of applications for environmental clearances.
Javadekar said an online submission system has been launched for timely clearance of applications and greater transparency.
The newly-introduced online application submission forms will ensure proper communication between the applicant and the ministry as under the new system the applicant will have to register to the website and then they will be provided with a password to ensure security.
Such online applications will also be made available soon for forest clearances.
Javadekar also said that he wants to make the process of forest conservation and environmental protection open for the people of the country, to make the entire process transparent.
He promised faster and efficient compliance with timelines for the clearance and completion of all infrastructure projects as well and said the clearance would help bring in speed in the whole process before the final decision on granting the nod for developmental projects.

Talking about Sustainable Development, Javadekar said, "We believe that growth and environment protection are both possible. It is not environment versus growth; both are possible. And therefore, sustainable development becomes the catchword of our efforts."
Javadekar also said every state will be taken along as the aspirations and difficulties of state governments will be considered.
"So as far as the states are concerned this means taking every state along, along with their aspirations, their difficulties. But simultaneously their active cooperation is necessary in nation building, and we are sure that we will get their cooperation," he added.
Javadekar is also the Minister for Information and Broadcasting.
