Pranjal Saikia, a successful entrepreneur from Assam

Youth in Assam are driven by a burning desire to become financially independent, and it comes as no surprise that Pranjal Sakia is one such person.

This young entrepreneur is not just making a good living, but also creating job opportunities for others.

At 32, Saikia, who hails from Assam's Sivasagar District, belongs to a poor family and the youngest among three siblings.

After completing his graduation, he unsuccessfully tried for a government job, and then decided to start his own poultry business with a small investment.

After several years of hard work, his business is thriving financially.

"After I completed my graduation, I tried for the civil services, but it didn't work out. So, I gave up studies and started this business. I chose this option, and now, I am doing very well," said Sakia.

Soon after starting the business, Pranjal ventured into piggery with his elder brother Prasanta.

Within a year, their farm became very popular and it is now the main supplier of pigs in the area.

The brothers now earn around Rs.3 to Rs.4 lakhs per annum.

They are now completely focused on growing their business.

Prasanta, Pranjal's brother, said: "There are so many educated unemployed youth and I want to tell them that they should take up this business as I believe that they can be successful entrepreneurs like me."

Pranjal's business has also benefited people of the area.

He now has three employees and they are also earning well.

Ranjan Daimary, a worker, said: "I am working for Pranjal and I am happy to work here, because I can earn my livelihood, and whatever I get from this work, I send to my parents."

Achievements of young entrepreneurs like Pranjal Saikia are an inspiration to many educated unemployed youth in the region to explore new innovative ideas and become self-reliant.
