President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday congratulated the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) over the launch of Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS)-1D.
"Heartiest congratulations to ISRO Team on successful launch of IRNSS-1D satellite; Nation proud of achievement," the President tweeted.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the organisation over the launch.
"Launch of satellite IRNSS-1D is yet another manifestation of exemplary efforts and utmost brilliance of our scientists. Congrats to them," the Prime Minister tweeted.
Earlier in the day, ISRO had launched India's latest navigation satellite, the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS)-1D from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota.
The 1,425 kg satellite was placed in the orbit by ISRO's workhorse launching vehicle PSLV C-27.
IRNSS-1D is fourth in the series of seven satellites, planned by ISRO to put in place the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System.
