President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday congratulated Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth for winning women's singles and men's singles titles respectively at the China Open 2014 Super Series Premier event.
"I am extremely delighted and proud that you have won the women's/men's singles title of the China Open 2014 Super Series Premier event," said President Mukherjee in individual messages sent to both the players.
"Your success is a matter of great pride for all Indians. Your achievement is an example of what can be accomplished through hard work and dedication. The whole country joins your family and you in celebrating this impressive achievement," he added.
President Mukherjee also extended his heartiest congratulations for keeping the country's flag flying high.
"My best wishes to you for all future endeavours," he concluded.
India's men's badminton ace Kidambi Srikanth won 21-19, 21-17 in the China Open Super Series final on Sunday, which is also the biggest win of his career so far.
Nehwal charged to victory in a highly entertaining contest that lasted 43 minutes, defeating Yamaguchi 21-12, 22-20 at the India Open Grand Prix Gold and Australian Super Series.
