President Pranab Mukherjee extended his greetings and best wishes to the government and people of Malaysia on the eve of their National Day.
In his message to His Majesty Almu'tasimu Billahi Muhibbuddin Tuanku Alhaj Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, Mukherjee said, "On behalf of government, the people of India and on my own behalf, I extend warm greetings and felicitations to you and to the people ofl Malaysia on the occasion of your National Day".
"The bilateral relations between India and Malaysia are marked by our traditional friendship and cooperation in a number of areas of common interest," he added.
"Our ties have strengthened substantively as we share the desire to deepen and broaden our multifaceted relationship to our mutual benefit. While we have broken new grounds in our economic relations, vast untapped potential still exists in areas like defence and security, health and education and people-to-people contacts" Mukherjee said in a statement released by the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
"We look forward to strengthening our relations with Malaysia and working with you to advance regional cooperation," the President further said.
