President Pranab Mukherjee, who is on a four-day state visit to Vietnam, planted a Bodhi sapling at the presidential palace in Vietnam on Monday, in the presence of his Vietnamese counterpart Truong Tan Sang.
President Mukherjee was also welcomed at the Presidential palace ahead of the delegation level talks to conclude on mutual agreements to widen cooperation in various fields between the two countries.
Seven pacts were also signed on Monday to further strengthen the strategic partnership in the key sectors including oil exploration, agriculture and connectivity between the two countries followed by the meeting with the chairman of the national assembly.
The two countries have arrived at an agreement to extend mutual assistance and cooperation in the custom matters while ONGC Videsh and Petro Vietnam have signed a letter of intent to further consolidate their partnership in oil exploration in South China Sea.
The two countries also agreed for a confessional line of credit through the Exim Bank of India for the defence procurement.
A MoU for taking up joint activities in the fields of animal health and fish breeding and youth affairs was also signed.
