The christening ceremony of Prince George Alexander Louis, the first-born son of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, will be held on 23rd October in the Chapel Royal at St James's Palace at 3pm, it has been revealed.

The royal baby will be baptized by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, in a private service that will last for just about 45 minutes, the Mirror reported.

The Kensington Palace had said in a brief statement that Kate Middleton and Prince William were "pleased" to announce the christening of their son, who was born on 22nd July.

As per the couple's wish, the event will be "an intimate family affair" and will be attended by the Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles, Prince Harry, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Kate's immediate family.

Prince George will don a replica of the lace and satin christening gown made for Queen Victoria's eldest daughter Victoria in 1841.

After the ceremony is completed, a historic picture will be released that will feature the reigning monarch and three future monarchs - Charles, William and George.
