Prince Harry has urged all UK citizens to support their country's injured warriors, after they return from the front.
He also urged everyone to never forget the sacrifices made by the troops, the Daily Star reported.
The Apache pilot recalled his experiences in the Afghan war zone during a 'Walking with the wounded' charity gala held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
The royal asserted that for every life taken, which is about 450 in Afghanistan, about 4,000 are injured and that's what one never hears about.
"Arms and legs never grow back, as well as mental injuries, but the image of your best friend being blown up next to you is something that will never leave you," he said.
Harry also affirmed that he would be joining a team of injured service personnel trekking to the South Pole later this year.

He revealed his fears that support for charities like 'Help for heroes' and 'Walking with the wounded' would be forgotten once Britain pulls out of Afghanistan.
The Prince of Wales added that they would make sure that something like that doesn't happen.
