The duke of Cambridge, Prince William, has urged world football governing body FIFA to clean up its act and 'put the sport first'.
Prince William, who is the president of the UK's Football Association (FA), said that FIFA should show that it can represent the interests of fair play and put the sport first, the BBC reported.
Speaking before the FA Cup final at Wembley, he said that there seems to be a huge disconnect between the sense of fair play that guides those playing and supporting the game, and the allegations of corruption that have long lingered around the management of the sport internationally.
He also urged the sponsors and other backers to use their influence with FIFA to support reform.
His candid comments came after Sepp Blatter was re-elected as the president, following the week in which seven FIFA officials were arrested and 18 people connected to the game indicted on corruption charges by the US Justice Department.
