More than 800 sisters showed up at the Rajkot central jail on the occasion of Rakshabandhan to tie rakhis on the hands of their brothers who are languishing in jail.

The premises of Rajkot Central jail were brimming with smiles, tears and hope on Sunday morning when sisters tied rakhis to jail inmates.

Special security arrangements were also made in the prisons on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

Arun kumar Vyas, the jail Superintendent, told ANI, "We have made all the arrangements and provided sweets to all the prisoners on the instruction of the state government and also allowed sisters and family members to meet their brothers to tie rakhi. We also provided red colour and rice to garland the brother. More than 800 sisters have tied the rakhee today and various social and religious groups tied the rakhi to our 1,400 prisoners."

"I have come to tie the rakhi and it is a very emotional moment and hope my brother comes out from the jail soon" said Geeta, sister of a prisoner.
