Congress General Secretaries Priyanka Gandhi and Jyotiraditya Scindia will be undertaking a four-day long visit of Uttar Pradesh, beginning Monday, during which they will thrash out strategies for the coming Lok Sabha polls.
"The two leaders, during their visit to the state beginning Monday, will hold meetings with the leaders from different Lok Sabha constituencies in view of the coming polls," said UP Congress Committee (UPCC) president Raj Babbar at a press conference here on Sunday.
It is worth mentioning that Congress president Rahul Gandhi recently appointed Priyanka and Scindia as General Secretaries and have been given them the responsibility of the party affairs in east and west UP respectively.
Upbeat over Priyanka's visit, Babbar said: "Her visit will be unprecedented. Workers are absolutely galvanised." "Today UP is proud of the fact that Priyanka Gandhi is starting her political career from here," he said.
Babbar said that from February 18 onwards, Priyanka and Scindia will start public interactions in their respective areas.
Since the announcement of SP-BSP alliance for the coming Lok Sabha polls in the state where two parties will contest on 38 seats each, the Congress leadership has been leaving nothing unturned to retain the party's lost ground in the state, where they won only two seats-Rae Bareli and Amethi-in the last Lok Sabha polls.
Talking about the BJP, Babbar said: "Our leader Rahul Gandhi has already said that these fascist forces will first threaten the people, and then will run away. Rahul has saved the people of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh from the BJP."
When asked to comment BJP MP Harish Dwivedi's controversial remark on Priyanka, Babbar said: "What I say about the one who does not know how to talk, and cannot respect his own mother and sister.
