Pro-democracy activists protesting against China's decision to vet candidates in Hong Kong's 2017 elections have clashed with the police near government offices in some of the worst unrest in the past two months of protests.
According to the BBC, protesters fought with pepper spray and batons on roads around the camp in the Admiralty district.
Police said that a lot of officers were injured and 40 people have been arrested so far.
The Chinese government has said that it will permit universal suffrage but will screen candidates for the chief executive post in advance.
Many activists are chanting the slogan "I want true democracy".
Police and court bailiffs had cleared one of the major protest camps in the Mong Kok commercial district last week.
