South African cricketer Dale Steyn's Proteas team mates have backed him to better than England pacer James Anderson, despite England's bowling coach David Saker saying the latter is "more skillfull".

Saker's remarks have agitated the cricket community, with Proteas Test skipper Graeme Smith and wicketkeeper Mark Boucher postingd tweets of disbelief, Sport 24 reports.

Boucher said that while both Anderson and Steyn are quality bowlers, there cannot be any comparison between the two.

Anderson also found Saker's comments strange, as he said that he looks up to Steyn, but added that he will not contest Saker on his views.

Touting Steyn as an accurate and formidable bowler, Anderson said that he likes to improve himself watching Steyn's bowling skills and wants to compete with the cricket legend.

Steyn has taken 332 wickets in 65 Tests to date at an average of 22.65, including 21 five-wicket hauls and five 10 wicket hauls.

Anderson has 305 Test scalps in 81 matches at an average of 30.14, with 13 five wicket hauls and a single 10 wicket haul.
