The second and final Test between Bangladesh and South Africa has ended in a draw after the play has been called off on the fifth day due to a wet outfield at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Monday.

The rain-curtailed match was on course towards an inevitable draw after bad weather washed out the entire Day two, Day three and Day four's play.

Despite relatively clear weather on Monday morning, umpires decided to render the outfield unfit to play and, therefore, the two-match series has been drawn.

Earlier, South Africa had finished the opening day of the series-deciding Test on a promising note after reducing the hosts to 246-8 at stumps on Thursday.

Pace spearhead Dale Steyn stole the limelight on the first day after becoming the second South African bowler after Shaun Pollock to reach the 400-wicket milestone. In addition, Steyn achieved this mark quicker than any other bowler in terms of balls bowled.

Rain dominated the entire Test series as the play in Chittagong had also been significantly hampered due to heavy downpours during the first drawn Test.
