South Africa's prime-time home international cricket roster this season has hit a new obstacle as they now face the prospective series against Pakistan at home being shelved due to domestic chaos in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Although South Africa planned to recover acute financial losses from the severely curtailed India's intended main-event tour of the summer, their supposed Plan B of inviting current opponents Pakistan back for some matches has also seemingly been shelved and is a public relations disaster with increasing nationwide disenchantment.

According to Sport24, there may be some kind of backlash in attendance terms from cricket fans, who are the ones suffering, particularly in the ego-driven squabble between Cricket South Africa (CSA) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The report further said that the India tour, initially a marketer's dream with the visitors' exciting array of emerging new stroke players pitting their skills against the world's friskiest pace attack, now look desperately compact, with the mere two Tests sticking out like a particularly sore thumb.

The report also said that the credibility of the Test format is only being undermined with the No 1-ranked side all too frequently curtailed to obscenely short series while others lower on the ladder feast on four or five-match rosters.
