Pakistan's Human Rights Minister Kamran Michael has said that the promotion and protection of minorities is the top most priority of the government, adding that the bright future for the country can only be ensured by providing justice to the oppressed sector of society.
He was addressing the gathering of minority community and employees of the PIA here in Karachi on Sunday.
While appreciating the role of minorities in the socio-economic development of the country, Michael said that the Pakistanis imbued with the spirit of brotherhood and national cohesion are equal partners in taking the country on the path of development, prosperity and well being.
He urged the community to refresh their commitment to maintain unity and cohesion at every level and work for the overall betterment of the nation.
Michael said that it is the time to promote interfaith harmony and strengthening national unity irrespective of the religion, cast or creed for standing united as one nation.
"We need to pledge ourselves to stand together for the development of our country adding that Pakistan is a country where there are no compartments of minorities or majorities," he said.

Michael said that the human rights of minorities are constitutionally secured and their services in every walk of life for making overall national development possible are a precious part to national accomplishments.
The Minister said that steps have been taken for the socio economic uplift of people of various religions as non-Muslims communities are important partners in struggle for ensuring prosperous future.
He said programmatic measures have been taken by the incumbent government for the promotion and protection of rights of children, women and minorities.
Later, a delegation of minority community and employees of PIA also called on the minister and apprised him about the problems and issues which they are faced with.
They also appreciated the endeavours of the government for the protection and promotion of the rights of minorities.
Michael assured them of taking further necessary action to protect their rights on priority.
