The illegal activity of underground outfits in Nagaland has resulted in expressions of outrage by the state's residents.
Business establishments across Nagaland downed their shutters on August 4 during a six-hour shut down called by the Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT).
The agitation was called to protest against the GPRN/ NSCN (Khole Kitovi) outfit for the illegal detention and interrogation of the Committee's secretary Solomon L Awomi.
Dr. Khekugha Muru, Convener, ACAUT, said, "It was clearly a voluntary clarion call the Naga public and business people to co-operate with ACAUT to show their resentment. We are very happy that as per the reports that we are getting from all over Nagaland, it is a 100 per cent success. People all over Nagaland and the business houses have turned up to support the cause of ACAUT."
An affected businessman said, "We have had to down our shutters. Our chamber of commerce is taking part in this. We are thankful to him and we are grateful that our president took the initiative to take part in this."
On July 31, Solomon, who is also the president of East Dimapur Business Association (EDBA), had gone to the outfit's designated Kehoi Camp after being called to clarify certain allegations leveled against him.

He was then illegally confined and interrogated with his hands tied and eyes blindfolded for three days.
Solomon was finally released after the members of ACAUT and village authorities had a meeting with outfit leaders and Solomon signed a release agreement.
Joel Nillo Kath, Co-convener, ACAUT, Nagaland, said, "Whatever the issue maybe, the fact of the matter is that this detention is illegal and uncalled for."
Business community in Nagaland is fed up with unabated taxation by various factions of NSCN outfit.
On several occasions, they have opposed it by holding protests, but the practice is still continuing.
