The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday took a dig at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for his 'proud Indian' remark, saying he should also be proud of his party's legacy of scams.
"Well it is ok for Rahul Gandhi to feel proud as an Indian. Perhaps, he should also express his pride in the manner in which the UPA Government left behind a legacy that has cost India a lot. Whether it
is policy paralysis or the biggest scams in the history of India, whether it is poor people suffering or farmers committing suicide," BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli told ANI.
He further said, "All of this is the legacy of Congress mis-governance also. So, does he feel proud about that also?"
On Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi had stated that he was proud of being an Indian, in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech in Seoul, where he said "there was a time when people used to say we don't know what sins we have committed in our past life that we were born in Hindustan".
