Pune FC clinched a famous 2-1 victory against East Bengal in their I-League encounter at the Barasat District Sports Stadium in Kolkata.
A hard fought game, Dudu Omagbemi put East Bengal in front in the 44th minute before substitute Ishfaq Ahmad levelled scores for Pune four minutes later. Striker Thongkhoseium Haokip then netted the winner for Pune FC in the 66th minute as they registered their first win after three consecutive losses in the league.
This win was also Pune first victory against East Bengal in four years as they ended their jinx against the Kolkata side.
Pune FC's seventh win of the campaign was also their third away win and took their tally to 26 points from 18 games. They are now level on points with fourth-placed East Bengal, but have an inferior goal difference.
