National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Inspector General confirmed on Friday that the death toll has risen to sixty and eight people have been rescued in Pune's Malin village, where a landslide had occurred a day before yesterday due to heavy rainfall.

Rathore said, "Our team has recovered sixty dead bodies by now and the people who were rescued live remain same as yesterday i.e. eight. Nevertheless, the operation is in full swing. The NDRF along with the state agencies are operating there. They have picked up little bit of momentum depending on the clearance of the weather."

"Senior officers even from Delhi, the DG and all are supervising the operation there. The local administration has provided the BSNL towers and few other things alike, which were not working earlier. It has improved communication. So we assume that the operation will last for another extra day provided the weather is clear. And if not tomorrow then, may be a day more extra," he added.

Talking of rescue teams he said, "Roughly nine teams comprising of 376-380, roughly in that range, our officers are there. The senior officers have also been visiting there. If we continue like this, enough man power is there on the ground to operate, we may be able to complete in next 24 or 48 hours."

Yesterday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan had said that out of the population of 715 in Ambegaon village around 44 houses were swept away in the landslide.
