Punjab becomes a harbinger of development owing to best connectivity

Punjab has become land of unlimited opportunities owing to best air connectivity in the country. With two international airports (Amritsar and Mohali), three domestic airports (Ludhiana, Pathankot and Bathinda) and one upcoming airport at Adampur (Jalandhar) every corner of the state is easily accessible from across the world. Punjab is also the only state in the country, which has an airport at every 80 km.

Punjab government has been consistently working to improve connectivity in the state. Be it road, rail or air Punjab boasts of best in class connectivity. With two international airports in state, not just domestic travels, people from state can travel overseas uninterrupted.

The international terminal at Mohali has come at Jheorheri village in an area of 300 acres. The world-class airport has been built at a cost of Rs. 475 crore. The new international airport has a capacity to handle more than 1,600 passengers at a time at its international and domestic terminals. Besides, Punjab has an international airport at Amritsar, which operates 12 flights in a day.

Talking about development, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, Sukhbir Singh Badal said, "For a business to flourish and reach heights, one of the primary things that need to be taken care of is connectivity. SAD-BJP government is working with the vision of linking Punjab to the world with a network of international and domestic airports. Ushering an industrial revolution, best-in-class air connectivity will create more employment avenues and lead to all round prosperity."

"Ever since the NDA government has taken over, Punjab has occupied prime importance in the scheme of things of the Union Government. Punjab has witnessed revolutionary transformation during the past 10 years in each sector, particularly the development of connectivity and it was all due to the sincere efforts of the SAD-BJP government", added Deputy Chief Minister.

Not just air-connectivity, Punjab also has an edge on majority of other states in terms of road and rail network. Punjab has one of the best rail (2,100 km) and road (64,000 km) networks in India. Punjab is placed on the top when it comes to road density. It has among the highest road densities of all the Indian states at 133 km per 100 sq. km.

Pitching for all-round development in Punjab government has envisioned to connect all major cities and towns of the state with four to six lane roads by 2017.The SAD-BJP government is laying an extensive road network, a prerequisite to development, which would make Punjab only the second state in the country to have a road network of such a broad scale.
