Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly denied rumours about NSA whistleblower seeking 'citizenship' in Russia.
According to Stuff.co.nz, Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that The Kremlin is unaware of any plans by Snowden to seek Russian citizenship.
Snowden who leaked sensitive intelligence reports about US programs had been holed up at Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport for weeks before applying for a 'temporary asylum' in Russia.
Despite the fact that Snowden's presence in the country is souring US-Russia ties, Putin had made it clear to allow Snowden asylum only if he refrains from further harming US partners with sensitive data leaks, a condition to which Snowden has agreed.
Meanwhile, US President Barack Obama is speculated to cancel the fall Moscow summit with Putin following Snowden's issue, the report added.
