Rio Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu on Saturday came out with yet another brilliant performance as she defeated local girl Ngan Yi Cheung in straight sets to enter the finals of the Hong Kong Open Super Series tournament.
The ace Indian shuttler defeated Yi Cheung, who had defeated Saina Nehwal in the quarterfinals last evening, 21-14, 21-16 in the last four-match that lasted 46 minutes.
The first game of the semi-final clash went neck-to-neck in the beginning as no shuttler gave an inch away. But the shuttler from Hyderabad found her straps soon and went on to win the first game 21-14.
In the second game, Sindhu took an early lead but the third seed from Hong Kong picked up her game to bring it level at 10-10. Sindhu used her height to the advantage to the fullest and emerge victorious.
The Rio Olympic silver medallist will now take on Taiwan's Tai Tzu Ying who defeated World number one and defending Hong Kong Open champion Carolina Marin 21-17, 14-21, 21-16.
Owing to her China Open victory last week, Sindhu has entered the top 10 of the Badminton World Federation rankings.
