Qantas has topped the list of 10 safest airlines in the world and was lauded for amassing "an extraordinary record of firsts" in safety and operations in its 94 year old history.
Other airlines included in the top 10 list were Air New Zealand, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Etihad Airways, EVA Air, Finnair, Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines, reported Stuff.co.nz.
The report came after a-not-so-safe year for airlines around the globe.
The MH370 mystery and MH17 crash were the two unprecedented incidents last year that claimed 537 lives.
Qantas was described as the leader in the development of an avionics system that provides a direct data link communication between the pilot, the air traffic control and the development of flight data recorders to monitor plane and crew performance.
