Qatar is reportedly confident that its winning bid to host the 2022 World Cup would stand up to fresh corruption scrutiny.

It maybe recalled that a Qatari official allegedly used his high-level contacts to buy support for the OPEC member's bid.

The Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy said that it stands by a statement issued last week and denied any wrongdoings in securing the rights to host the tournament, Sport24 reported.

The comments came after a British newspaper released fresh allegations that Qatari Mohammed Bin Hammam, who is a longtime member of FIFA's executive committee, arranged government-level talks for a Thai FIFA executive to discuss a natural gas sale.

Qatar had last week denied allegations by the Britain's The Sunday Times that Bin Hamman made 5 million dollars in payouts to football officials to build support for the bid, the report added.
