Looks like veteran director Quentin Tarantino wants to try his hands on some sci-fi stuff now.
According to Deadline, the 'Django Unchained' helmer is keen to take the helm of the 'Star Trek' franchise and has come up with a storyline for the next movie.
He has reportedly shared his idea for the next Starship Enterprise adventure with J.J. Abrams, who is said to have agreed to produce the film if it works out.
The studio, Paramount, has not commented on this matter.
Abrams - who helmed the last two 'Star Trek' films for Paramount, but is now busy working on the 'Star Wars' franchise - has apparently agreed for Tarantino to meet with a team of writers to take his idea to the next level.
Abrams rebooted the franchise with 2009's Star Trek and also helmed 2013's 'Star Trek Into Darkness', before pivoting to Lucasfilm's 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'.
