Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sanjay Kaka Patil on Saturday turned the heat on former Maharashtra home minister R.R. Patil for his controversial comment on rape, saying it has revealed the NCP leader's true face before the public.
"Former home minister of Maharashtra has given a bad statement. He said if anyone wants to do rape, do it after the election. Now, his real face has come in front of the crowd after 15 years," he said.
Calling for a probe into this matter, he added: "Today I have given the CD to the Election Commission and I want an investigation into this matter."
Patil, who stoked a controversy with his comment that an MNS candidate for the assembly polls jailed for the offence could have waited for elections to get over before committing the crime, later went into damage control after his statement drew sharp criticism.
The former Maharashtra home minister reportedly said that he made the comment in a sarcastic vein against MNS candidate Sudhakar Khade, who has a criminal background, and tendered an apology if anybody felt hurt.
