Congress leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil was on Tuesday appointed as the new Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly.
This decision was announced in a suo-motu statement made by Speaker Haribhau Bagde in the assembly, stating that he had received a letter from Pradesh Congress chief Manikrao Thakre and Vikhe Patil himself claiming the post.
Patil replaces opposition leader Eknath Shinde of the Shiv Sena.
