Senior Congress leader and former union minister Anand Sharma on Thursday said that he could not understand the concern of the NDA Government or the BJP on why party vice president Rahul Gandhi had gone on leave. He said it should not concern or affect them.

"Why is the opposition concerned about that (Rahul Gandhi's sabbatical)? He is our vice president. He's the leader of our party," said Sharma.

"When we had informed the people that he has gone for a sabbatical and to introspect... is that the problem of others? He is back and I have no doubt that he will not only be taking pro-active measures, but also with dynamism and commitment, provide leadership," he added.

The opposition's scepticism built up after Rahul Gandhi took a two-month long break from the political scene, right after the party had lost the Delhi elections to the Aam Aadmi Party and BJP, not being able to procure any of the 70 seats in the city.
