Former Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal has reportedly been summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the recently exposed railway bribery case.
Bansal is likely to be questioned by CBI sleuths on Tuesday afternoon.
The questioning is expected to revolve around his role in the appointment of suspended Railway Board Member (Staff) Mahesh Kumar and the role played by his nephew Vijay Singla.
The latter, it maybe recalled was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 90 lakh as part of a deal to get Kumar transferred to a more lucrative Railway Board post.
The CBI has reportedly managed to secure all files pertaining to Kumar's appointment and also recorded the statement of Kumar, Singla and Bansal's Private Secretary Rahul Bhandari.
Bansal will be confronted with the evidence collected by the probe agency about his meeting with the suspended Railway Board member in Mumbai on April 16 this year.
