Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday said proper arrangements should be made for filing an FIR in the offices of Superintendent of Police in case it is not lodged in police stations.
The instructions were given by the Chief Minister during a meeting with senior officials, the state government said in a statement.
"Matter should be investigated if the police station refuses to register an FIR. If it is found to be true, action should be taken against the concerned policemen," the statement quoted the Chief Minister as saying.
The instructions come around than a month after demands were put forth for Gehlot's resignation over an alleged law and order failure in the wake of the Alwar gang rape case.
A Dalit woman was allegedly gang-raped by five men while her husband was beaten up in Thanagaji area on April 26. One of the accused also shot a video of the heinous act and reportedly circulated it on social media.
