Fever-stricken patients in a community health centre of Dholpur district in Rajasthan are being treated in the open with IV bottles hang from tree trunks.

With the passing Monsoon, the cases of viral fever, Dengue and Chikungunya have enveloped the district. And due to shortage of beds at the Saipau Community Health Centre, the hospital authorities have made the bottles of intravenous (IV) fluid hang from nails on the tree trunks.

Patients and their family members have been seated on the cemented platform.

The health centre has only 15 beds. At night, patients face a tough time in finding a corner in the centre building to spend the night.

Community health centres play an important role in rural health care and are meant to provide services to areas that do not have hospitals with modern facilities.
